Myofascial Release Techinique

Updated: Nov 12, 2019

Myofascial Release is a special and safe hands-on technique used to treat tight connective tissues in the body. 'Myo' means 'muscle and 'fascia' means band. Fascia is found all over the body and this release treatment is effective for rehabilitation of soft tissue and treatment of fascial tension and its restrictions.

So what is Fascia?

Fascia is a 3D continuous web of elastin and collagen fibres surrounded by a viscous fluid called the ground substance. So these two fibre types allow it o be very strong yet have a high degree of flexibility whilst the ground substance is a fluid of transportation medium and acts a slide and glide mechanism between structures. Fascia has similarities to muscles in that it has the ability to contract and relax and plays a big role in mobility and stability of joints.

What are the benefits?

If you suffer from chronic pain or have had a recent injury, releasing the fascia can be very relieving and build up of scar tissue in the fascia can be massaged, released and stretched. Fascia responds quickly and easily to gentle pressure and breathing techniques. Any tight areas in the body may benefit from release too. Circulation will be improved and the body will heal better.

Sessions will be on a 1-2-1 basis and will use a special ball to apply pressure to areas of the body. It will be gentle and relaxing!

Cost: £45 per session.
